Mamarapha Graduation

Mamarapha College News

Mamarapha College, Perth WA, has convened the largest graduation service ever.  Since 1997 the College has been at the forefront of the mission of the church to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.   Graduation this past year surpassed the number of students previously attending a graduation service by 20%.   Among the recipient, this graduation included two Advanced Diploma Graduates, Sandra Kelly and Andrea Warren (Mamarapha Registrar/Student Services).  This qualification requires a minimum of four years full-time study.  Since graduation, Sandra Kelly has been appointed an intern of the Western Australian Conference while being employed as a Chaplain of Karalundi and pastor of Meekatharra, WA.  Sandra says, “going to Mamarapha College has enabled me to minister out in the communities to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal folk…being able to get out there and do the work.”   Sandra is really experiencing fulfilment saying, “The joy of doing ministry is something that comes from within.”

The graduation was also a significant transition in that it was the final graduation service involving the College’s founding principal, Pr. Gordon Stafford.  His years of dedicated service and innovation have touched countless lives including over 350 students during his time as principal. Reflecting on this achievement, Pr. Stafford was quick to deflect all praise to God by quoting a poem he had read the same morning, “Only let me be a nail upon the wall, holding Thy picture in its place.”  The new principal is Pr. David Fletcher.

Mamarapha College continues to operate because of the strong commitment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia.  This commitment is anchored in the prophetic call to “proclaim the everlasting gospel to every nation, tribe, language and people.”    Thank you for generously supporting the special offering for Mamarapha College on Sabbath, 14 June, 2014.
